REFLECTION
Being the first subject that I have touched in my very first semester in Taylor's University, I have to say this is totally an amazing and challenging journey. Although all of the work required a lot of effort, the satisfaction after finishing the work is just epic and it feels great. I did learn a lot of things regarding to this subject throughout the semester and seen a lot of good work by my peers, and met some new friends too. To be honest, the whole journey is valuable as I am satisfied by my work and I am proud of my work, by that, the hard work and effort behind all of that is totally worth it.
Observation
Throughout the semester, I observed that the key of learning how to produce a piece of good design work is constantly getting feedback from the one who is experienced in this field. I think those feedback has unmeasurable value to all my design work and I really appreciate that Ms. Low was really putting effort on viewing my work with patience. Other than that, I observed that time management is really important in this industry. The time given for every task was not long, in order to finish every task on time, we need to be self-disciplined and manage our time wisely to work on every phase of our design work effectively. Moreover, although design is about creativity and thinking outside the box, there are many rules that need to be obeyed in order to ensure the quality of the design work, one of the examples is the typographic hierarchy.
Findings
Typography is an important element in graphic and UI design. Typography is not just about simple letters and alphabets, it can determine the quality of the UI design and have a great impact on it. A good piece of typographic design work usually has many tiny details that have been experimented many times, but it's not quite often mentioned by the audience.
